What are silicon or non-silicone heat spreader?

Heat spreader base materials can be classified as silicon and non-silicone based, most of the thermal interface materials are based on silicon. Heat spreaders serve the function of both insulation and thermal conductivity, and are primarily used to conduct heat from heat generating components to heat dissipating components.

They are often applied in LED lamps, PDP/LED flat panel TVs, automotive electronics, power supplies, communications, electronic devices, water conservation equipment, military equipment, aircraft flight equipment and medical devices.
